Not a must have

This book is cute and I added my own notes. Since I spent $13, I have to use it. At this point, I can say, this little book doesn't deserve $13 but $8 or less. Other than few grammar and spelling errors, I didn't find any concept error and I have a masters in MPH Methodology. I was curious and the reason I bought it. I like his "Best of Luck on your exams", message...;)

101 Things Every Girl Should Know by Zonderkidz. This book is based on expert advice on stuff big and small from the Editors of Faithgirls and Girl's Life Magazine. I have to say that I wasn't sure if I was going to like the material in this book because I am very picky on what my girls are reading when it comes to advice for their lives. I was not disappointed with this book for a few reasons. The topics are very light and not heavy. They discuss simple things such as being nervous, taking better notes and how to handle a stressful week. It would have been nice if the book were more biblical based, it does not use versus from the Bible to make any points. Its a really simple, magazine style book with simple advice. The book has 102 tips for girls and I only didn't like a couple of them and it was mainly because of personal preference. I felt like the advice given was simple for example, being a good babysitter was mainly to pay attention to the children your watching instead of watching TV. I don't think that it was the best advice book out there but I think it was fun for my girls and was simple enough that I didn't have to worry about the world teaching my girls things I am not ready for them to learn yet.

I let my 14 year old daughter read through the book before I wrote my review and she thought the book was ok. She felt like a lot of the tips were not useful. She said she would give it only 3 stars out of 5. She did like the pictures and how the book was set up. She said it was fun to read even if the tips were not useful. It had recipes which she liked and some good tips such as how to stay safe.

My Review:
Growing up female by today's standards isn't always a good thing and to be perfectly honest it is definitely very difficult. Especially if you want your girl to be confident. This is such a tougher world than what many of us older women grew up in. Girls need to be under constant supervision as well as need many confidence builders throughout the course of their adolescence.

Faithgirlz editors have been there and know just the trick to help our girls feel more accepted and loved just like their Father feels they should be. They have put together a book that gives them just a small piece of advice on just about any subject. It is well formatted and it has just small tidbits, so its not an overwhelming book by any means.

With little pieces of advice such as ordering healthy when eating out and becoming more independent our girls will be on their way to a better overall sense of self in no time. And that's not all there is a quiz in the back of the book, who doesn't like quizzes?

The book is very ascetically appealing,the pages are colorful,and every pages has ton of photos,the words are very relatable and easy to read,which is perfect for young girls.I love how every page has photos,of what I’m going to assume are real teenage girls,and they are putting the words into action,so if its talking about what to do on a rainy day,there are girls doing said activities.This book is a great confidence builder for preteens and teens,i love how it covers a large variety of topics.Its great that they even included recipes,but there not really age appropriate,since no kid is likely to have the patience to wait over an hour for a chicken/cake to cook and cool,they should have included recipes that were easy,short and sweet,or at least 30 minutes or less cook time.I love that they included a lot of school related things because kids this age can easily loose focus and interest in school,they also often times loose confidence in themselves and there school work.One thing about number 38,before I read it I though,oh no there not really going to tell kids how to talk there parents into stuff,but yes they did,although it wasn’t as bad as I thought,it is just basically telling them if they behave all the time and get all there school work done,when it comes time,and they really want something,parents are more likely to be lenient.The book mentions health and health choices a lot,which in a way is super good,since obesity is at an all time high,but I feel like it pushes it to much and in to many spots,kids this age are especially hard on themselves about looks,and the pressure to be thin at this age is high,and I feel like some teens,may feel extra pressure by this advice,or misinterpret it,bottom line I feel like it harps on health a little to much,fewer more gentler reminders are better.I did enjoy seeing that this book gives advice about all things,things major and minor,some stuff all girls go through,such as how to talk to boys,making friends,acne,etc,many of these things kids often feeling like they can’t go to there parents about,so its good for them to have another healthy outlet.I reading all this great advice and and then I get to number 54,I’m super thrown off,I am not sure why teens need advice about learning to do a split,it feels like they just threw this one in there,although 56 sounds fun,i myself would like to try making those lip balms,love that there all natural too.I did find what I believe is an error,on the section stuff to do on a rainy day number 7 out of 10 “its an ideal time,for giving yourself a little lesson in… whatever you’re been meaning to learn” this in fact should be “whatever you’ve been meaning to learn.I would recommend this book to everyone,of all ages,especially those with kids,preteens,or teens.I received this book for free,for review purposes,all thoughts and or opinions are my own and I was not compensated.

Misleading product description

The actual cards are excellent with just enough concise information. If all you want are the cards I would highly recommend this. If you expect to get everything you paid for do not buy.

The product is advertised as including "MP3 audio download with detailed discussion of each drug" as well as having the stated on the actual package. There are no detailed discussions, only MP3 questions and answers on the website. This is very misleading considering the detailed discussion and question and answers were each advertised as two separate MP3s.

The advertising and package also states drug card PDFs are included with purchase. Again not true. The only PDFs available are the updated drugs with the 2016/2017 edition.

Due to the misleading advertising I give this product one star. I purchased with the understanding I could listen to the detailed discussions while driving, otherwise I would have went a different direction.

For the manager Not for the engineer

I've been a hardware engineer for six years and have seen many of my designs vanish into firmware. It was time to learn how to program a microcontroller, but this book was not much help.

The index often points to the wrong page - close, but usually a page or two off. There are no appendixes for quick reference. The illustrations vaguely correlate to the text.

The chapter on the assembly language begins: "This book is not intended to be a manual on programming.." and it truly does not teach assembly. There are several example codes with virtually no explanation and there are no programs with which to practise.

Much of the chapter on the microcontroller (68hc11 used as the basis) talks about component placement on the PCB or noise, which is nice to know but not fundamental in learning how to program the chip. The rest of this chapter is a gloss over which concludes: "Although the reader may never program or design a microcontroller system..." Then why am I reading it? Well, you might read it if you worked WITH a microcontroller engineer but were NOT a microcontroller engineer and never intended to become one.

There are enough buzz words in here to make you sound good, but if you really want to learn the 68hc11, find another book.

Beginner's handbook

Barely scratches the surface of the content implied by the title. This book contains far too much introductory material aimed at an audience of neophytes. A great deal of the practical information in the book can be obtained gratis from the application notes available from the manufacturer. A real dissappointment.

Daring to Dream - "The Story of Lady Jayne"!

This wonderful book by my Dad traces the amazing development of a crazy idea - to build from scratch a stunning sleek wooden sailboat, the famed Dragon, with only an archival set of notes to act as a guide.

To most individuals this would appear to be a Quixote-like quest doomed to a premature quiet demise. In the hands of a Dutch emigrant who grew up surrounded by Holland's buzzing nautical activity, hatching this dream at the edge of British Columbia's beautiful coastline seemed like a perfectly sane undertaking: Why not try and build by hand a truly rare and aesthetically amazing wooden racing sailboat?

And thus chasing the dream of `Lady Jayne' was engaged. This was old school, learn on the fly, craftsmanship at the highest, and occasionally, comical level. With the aid of a used band saw, hundreds of feet of micro-thin strips were patiently cut, glued and slowly fashioned into a strong wafer-like wooden skin. After building a large shed to house the `boat-to-be', the T-rex skeletal ribs gradually evolved courtesy of numerous steaming experiments with the trusty kettle. Family members were recruited to hunt down a huge piece of foam plastic drifting in the Skookumchuck Narrows, neighbors aided in digging a huge hole in the gravel driveway to house the keel mold and the `Great Lead Weight Meltdown' event ensued. When Dad wasn't climbing through assorted lumber yards along the West Coast in the ongoing `Search for the Holy Mast', he was having to patiently explain to his grandchildren that one eye was unfortunately closed tight due to an adverse reaction to a chemical compound he was painting on the wooden hull - and only four more coats to go!

In a world dominated by fascination with expensive bling bling - witness the gargantuan yachts from billionaires Bill Gates, Paul Allen and Jim Pattison that periodically wallow past the my parent's home/workshop near the entrance to Pender Harbour, BC - the sight of the Lady Jayne's shark-like wooden hull majestically slicing through the rolling Pacific hearkens to a world where individuals attempted the improbable - like building a gorgeous wooden sail boat with a little more than a band saw, trusty kettle and some serious imagination.

I got this book as part of the Kindle First program. I enjoyed reading it. It's a nice, relaxing, light romantic comedy. It's the kind of book that I can totally see as a "chick flick". It's very reminiscent of "Sweet Home Alabama".

The female lead, Kendall, is so focused on advancing her career as a serious news reporter that she doesn't give any time to her love life. And when Ty Bishop enters the picture, although she's very attracted to him, she knows he will only distract her from her career goals of joining a morning news show in New York City. Will she give true love a chance?

Overall this book was pretty good. It's by no means unique though. It's a typical romantic comedy. Other reviewers commented on how "deep" they thought this book was and referenced the childhood emotions Kendall and Ty struggled with in regards to their parents. But to me, "daddy issues" are a bit cliche. All that being said however, I still enjoyed this book.

There is one sex scene that's moderately descriptive, so just a head's up if that bothers you.

Overall, a nice read. Glad I picked it as my Kindle First. For free it was a worthwhile read. But I honestly don't think it's worth the $5.99 the author would normally charge, because as I said, although I enjoyed it, I don't think it was anything super special.

LOVED THIS romantic comedy.

Everyone loves a great Romantic Comedy—When I started, I couldn't put it down. Kendall is a smart over worked heroine with a love-life on hold for her career. She's is a woman with a dream of changing the world and telling important stories, and that takes long hours. She's become puppet of her crafty boss—who wants TV Ratings and Kendall's her girl for that. In order to get what Kendall hopes will be her big chance—a real environmental and community impact story to research on the side--Kendall agrees (with much arm twisting) to be the DATE for a TV dating show where the dates are chosen for her called: ‘It’s Raining Men’. Of course at some dates—it's LOL, at others you wonder is he the one? Your heart will twist as Kendall becomes more and more stuck by her life, her boss, and her personal expectations as the ’suit’ she thought she needed to be happy gets confusing around dusty work boots and a pair of very blue eyes. SWOON. Her 'real ' news story develops in such cool and yes, often hilarious ways, but even there Kendall is in deep and in danger thanks to secrets surrounding the story she’s trying to expose.

This is not simply boy meets girl, they kiss and laugh, the end. There are really good layers in here and it’s a bigger story of jobs, family and love/life choices that I think so many can relate to. The ‘more’ is very refreshing. Of course, Ty is the manly hero with his own secret past, a family he’s misaligned with and yet he’s such a good guy he is torn over loyalty to them and giving Kendall her dreams as he falls deeply in love. Of course, since the title is Kissing Mr. Right, we all know there’s romance and kissing which is, in fact, awesome! Love how these two, who should maybe not fall in love at all finally get together. Because of course…yes, you should fall in love no matter what. Highly Recommend!

Delightful contemporary romance!

Kissing Mr. Right was a delightful read! Kendall is a reporter desperate to advance her career in a meaningful way despite the crazy stories assigned to her. Ty is far more than a hunky landscaper and has a PhD to prove it. What Kendall thinks she wants becomes a little less clear as her feelings for Ty grow. The chemistry between them and the entertaining cast of characters make this a heart-warming story about discovering who you really are and where home is. Loved it! I'm hoping this is a series! This one is definitely going on my keeper shelf.
